Watch outer banks season 1 episode 21/1/2024 ![]() So, the Pogues better watch their backs because Blackbeard's treasure isn't the only thing that will cause drama in season four.Īs for what the baddies want to see in season four, they've also got some interesting ideas. It's not completely wild to assume that he could be seeking revenge on the Pogues and an alliance with Topper could be on the cards. This will hit him hard after finally earning Ward's respect and, in turn, the keys to the empire. He instructed the Pogues to keep his father safe, and instead, his father ended up studded with bullets. "And then it would also provide a chance for Rafe to emerge and be aggrieved by that death and blame the Pogues for it, and that would set him up for season four." So we felt like this was the most poetic ending where, at the last second, he tries to redeem himself but dies in the process. "There was no possibility of really a happy ending. "Part of that was about giving bandwidth for Rafe to emerge as the villain going forward, and also feeling that Ward, as a character, had done so many things that were so psychologically damaging to his daughter. ![]() "It was hotly debated, but we always had a sense that it might end that way," co-creator Jonas Pate said (via The Hollywood Reporter). Rafe may have been missing from the season finale action, but it's possible the events that unfolded could see him return to his villainous ways in season four - and Ward's death is the likely trigger.Įspecially as the death was written to be part of Rafe's arc. We just wanted to move them into a new phase in their lives and move them forward a little bit." The actors are a little older, and it was harder to keep them in high school. Pate added: "As far as the time jump, we felt like we needed to get them out of school. It is going to be a part of it, but it's not going to be a traditional Blackbeard-type tale, although we're using elements of the mythology going forward." Teasing what this means for season four, co-creator Josh Pate told The Hollywood Reporter: "Blackbeard is part of Outer Banks lore, and so there's just a lot of stuff we can work with out of that. And we all know what that means: He's speeding towards a tumultuous journey - and will no doubt take the others along for the ride. Instead of turning it down and sending him on his way in a 'no thanks, that's enough questing for me' way, John B smirks. More action is teased when a stranger arrives, bringing with him a manuscript detailing the captain's log of Blackbeard the pirate. But that doesn't mean the adventure ends here.ĭespite the final moments of the finale showing Sarah and John B seeming very settled with their surf shop 18 months after finding El Dorado, there's definitely something brewing on the horizon. Indeed, the quest for El Dorado is over, and the matter of John B's father has literally been put to rest (RIP, Big John). Well, you can bank on a lot of absolute madness. Outer Banks season 4 plot: What will happen? It would be completely absurd, but in a world where a group of teenagers can make it out of multiple shootouts and car chases without so much as a scratch, anything can happen. Ward and Big John do have a history of faking their own deaths, though, so who knows? Perhaps they'll be back for more. Big John and Ward were both killed off in the finale, their bones resting somewhere in the rainforest, which means we also say goodbye to the slightly redeemable Ward and the actor behind him, Charles Esten. Sadly, despite taking this long to finally track down, Big John (Charles Halford) won't be back for another season. We would also bank on the return of the following: So we're most certainly expecting Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline to reprise their roles. Then JJ darkens the mood by pressing the gun he found earlier to Topper's head.Judging by the closing scenes in the finale, it seems John B and Sarah have a new mission. The camera lingers a little bit, because although this is not The CW, the creators of this series want us to know early on that it's okay to objectify these men. ![]() ![]() They somehow roll into the surf so they're wrestling each other in soaking wet clothes that stick to their skin. JJ and Topper fight about who knows what - Topper is a douche - and John B tries to break it up. Notable sighting: Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline), the most popular Kook girl and Kiara's former BFF - they had a mysterious falling out - girlfriend of an extremely WASP-y d-bag named Topper (Austin North), and the daughter of Ward, who owns the boat where John B works. For some reason, Pogues don't hook up with each other, so they spend their time at the Boneyard macking on people (their parlance, not mine) from other groups - mainly tourists. Next, the gang heads to "the Boneyard," which John B describes as a three-layer burrito comprised of Pogue kids, Kook kids, and tourists.
